About Linda St John & The Skinny Project

"The Skinny Project got its start on the cutting room floor when artist/designer Linda St. John saw beauty in all the colorful scraps of fabric left after dresses had been cut in her design studio workshop. She swept up the scraps realizing this was not junque. Her inclination to make something beautiful out of whatever she had on hand took over and the first Girls were born 25 years ago. Always a world class recycler, almost any kind of scraps (including fast food wrappers, lint balls, shiny foil, twigs and candy wrappers) were incorporated into the Skinny Girl's dramatic bespoke ensembles.

The Skinny Girl Project has travelled and inspired children and adults for many years.

If you have scraps of cloth, bits of ribbon, a colorful plastic bag, bring it along. We will be providing fabric and notions too, as well as needles, thread, pipe cleaners, pliers and scissors. At the end of the evening you will take home your very own Skinny Girl."
