The American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) seeks a part-time Event Manager for corporate and social events. Work hours are primarily weekends (Fri-Sun) although some weekday evening shifts will also be available. Shifts are approximately 9 hours, typically 3pm-midnight, and applicants must be available at least March-November. Starting pay $13/hour.


The Event Manager is responsible for greeting guests, directing vendors to proper set up locations, ensuring vendors adhere to venue guidelines for set up and clean up, occasionally moving tables and chairs, ensuring all items are removed from the venue at the completion of the event, controlling basic AV equipment, and trouble- shooting any venue-related issues that may arise during the course of an event.

Candidate must possess excellent customer service skills, be able to effectively communicate, problem solve independently, climb ladders and lift at least 30 lbs., and maintain a professional appearance at all times. Previous off-premise catering, event management, or wedding experience preferred.

Candidate must have reliable transportation and is expected to be able to work at least 4 events per month. Average number of shifts assigned per month will be 2-6, with more shifts available during the busier months (April-October). Shifts are assigned approximately 1 month in advance.
