About the Event

Ready to turn a new page in 2025? Join transdisciplinary artist HOPE McCorkle for a self-portrait workshop inspired by her recent solo exhibition “dancing with my shadows: a journey to self-discovery” at the Creative Alliance (Baltimore, MD). Through collage and journaling, blend art and self-reflection to explore and express your unique story in this meaningful experience.

Shadow work involves exploring and integrating the hidden, unconscious aspects of one's personality. Rooted in Jungian psychology, it delves into suppressed emotions and unresolved issues, fostering self-awareness and personal growth. By addressing and embracing the "shadow," individuals strive for wholeness, acceptance, and balance.

Attendees will learn more about shadow work, write a letter to their past selves, and create collage self-portraits of their shadows on the cover of a journal, all materials provided. This workshop is best suited for ages 16+, feel free to bring past photos or any materials you feel inspired to incorporate. Take home your journal and a few writing prompts to support and encourage your journey to self-discovery. New year, new perspective!

Cost:

$30

$20 for AVAM members
