ADMISSION

Admission grants entry to the museum and all current exhibitions. We are transitioning exhibitions soon, so check the dates for what will be open for your visit.

Advanced, online purchase of a timed ticket is required to visit the museum. Buy Tickets. (Visiting just the museum store, Sideshow, is free, and does not require purchasing a timed ticket.)

Parking

DIRECTIONS

The American Visionary Art Museum is located at 800 Key Highway, Baltimore, MD next to Federal Hill Park and the Inner Harbor.

 

PARKING

Abundant metered parking, which is also handicapped accessible, is available on Covington Street and Key Highway. Please note that the meters are in effect 24 hours, 7 days a week. Also, be sure to read and follow all signs posted by Baltimore City Parking Authority.

Paid parking is also available in the public lot at The Rusty Scupper Restaurant on Key Highway.

Public Transportation

The Maryland Transit Administration operates public transportation options to AVAM. Visit MTA's Trip Planner to view your options. Simply enter your End Address as 800 Key Highway Baltimore, MD 21230. For more information, visit mta.maryland.gov or call 1-866-RIDE-MTA.

Water Taxi

From Pier 5, take the Baltimore Water Taxi to Landing 4 (The Rusty Scupper). Turn left to Key Highway, and you'll see the museum across the street. www.baltimorewatertaxi.com

ACCESSIBILITY

Our main entrance is the accessible entrance.

Mobility Aids: The museum and its campus are accessible to wheelchairs and those with limited mobility. Wheelchairs are available free of charge at Visitor Services on a first-come, first-served basis.

Service animals are welcome in the museum.

For visitors who are hearing impaired, films are either captioned, or transcripts are available upon request at Visitor Services.

GROUPS

Group visits have temporarily moved to a virtual format. We offer a variety of virtual tour options for school and adult groups.

BAG CHECK

Coat and bag check are temporarily suspended. Please limit bags to 12”X12” in size.

 

Coats and strollers are allowed.

 

No backpacks, food, or drink in the museum, please. Thank you!

Photography without flash for personal use is welcome! Please no additional equipment such as tripods, lights, and selfie sticks. Also, remember to respect the art and other visitors' experiences as you're snapping.
